Service

The service for Jerry will be conducted, Monday at 11 a.m., Ebenezer Baptist Church.

Interment

Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Quaker City, Ohio.

Obituary of Jerry L. Morris

JERRY L. MORRIS

 

Jerry L. Morris, 69, of Bethesda, passed away on August 31, 2018 at his home. He was born on December 11, 1948 in Barnesville, to the late Ernest and Nellie Margaret (Layman) Morris.

 

Jerry was a 1967 graduate of Shenandoah High School and was a Vietnam War veteran, having served in the 1st Infantry Division of the U.S. Army in 1968 and 1969.  He was a member of the Ebenezer Baptist Church in Bethesda and faithfully attended services there for more than 30 years.  Jerry was a surface coal miner for 40 years, having worked for Quinn Development Company, Marietta Coal, and was retired from B&N Coal in 2010.

 

In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by his loving wife of 43 years, Ellen (Cumberlidge) Morris.

 

Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 3 years, Edna (Duvall) Morris; three daughters, Lavonne (Joe) Estep of Bethesda, Michele (Chuck) Hamilton of Woodsfield, and Melanie (Steve) Carpenter of Woodsfield.  Also surviving is a very special step-daughter, Amy (Doug) Kemp and their family.

 

Jerry is also survived by several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brother, Larry (Henrietta) Morris of Caldwell; aunt, Marie Despres of Bethel Park, PA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
